Hockey

A hockey team consists of  11 players, including a goalkeepr
Each Player must have an outdoor hockey stick.
Goalkeeper must wear protective pads
If you join a hockey club, they will set standards for what to wear during match days
The uniform may be of a particular colour or design.

The three main positions while playing hockey are Striker, Midfield and Defense
The most popular formations are a 4 3 3 sweeper formation or a 3 4 3 diamond formation with 4 in the midfield.
There are other formations available and but these will depend on the coach and their playing style.

The rule book for hockey is extensive, but some of the BASIC rules are as follows :

(1) Only the flat side of the stick can be used to move the ball

(2) ball can be pushed, hit, slapped hit, in such a way that it does not cause harm to another player.

(3) The hockey ball should not come into contact with the feet or any other part of body of any of the players (except for Goalkeeper), so that it causes the team to gain advantage.

(4) NO offside rule

(5) A tackle can only be made by taking the ball from a player from the opposing team from their right hand side. Stick tackles are not allowed

(6) A player is not allowed to physically obstruct a player from passing or playing the ball, unless that player is attempting to tackle (ie, you can't run into players)

(7) A goal can only be scored if the ball is played from within the circle.

(8) If the defending team commit a foul in the circle, a Penalty Corner (Short Corner) is awarded to the attacking team

(9) If the attacking team commits a foul in the circle they are attacking, the defending team take a hit out.
